Steel link-belt conveyors are usually used for transporting heavy materials, frequently at a higher temperature. The conveyor is a steel link belt (hinge belt) fitted to the chain. Depending on working conditions and transported material, a steel or rustless belt with side ruffles, with flat or perforated surface, or with stampings, may be used. In case of large angles, steel thresholds are fitted to the belt.
The conveyors of this type are frequently used as devices scraping material from under large charging hoppers.
